Kevin is great with my dog. Because I'm a first time dog owner, everything was new to me. My lack of knowledge caused me to spoil my dog and I failed to establish rules in the house. Kevin taught me ways to establish these boundaries and by the second meeting, my dog was loose leash walking and less reactive to other dogs! I'm thankful for Kevin for teaching me better ways to handle my dog and I'm looking forward to our monthly meets so that my dog and I will have a better understanding of each other!
Bark busters was recommended to me through a friend and I'm so happy I followed their advice and start re-training my dog, Louie, with them. Louie had no serious issues but I found that over the years of more traditional training methods of engaging and rewarding through treats was backfiring in moments when I didn't have treats. Louie had very "selective" hearing. If there was no cookie in my hand -he wasn't interested in doing what I'd asked. This became dangerous one afternoon when he got off his leash in a busy neighborhood and wouldn't "come" to me because he knew I didn't have anything delicious to give him. Kevin taught me how to restructure my relationship with Louie through really simple adjustments around everyday things. These adjustments lead to Louie understanding what I was wanting from him by communicating and demonstrating it in a way he could recognize. I love knowing that I can call on Kevin to help me with any new behavioral issue that comes up in the future. It really works and it works quickly.
As a first-time dog owner I was overwhelmed trying to find the right trainer. We have a border collie (mix?) who is both very smart and extremely energetic. I'm so glad I called Bark Busters because Kevin was absolutely incredible & instrumental in helping my partner & I feel confident & collaborative with our puppies training. Kevin was patient, knowledgeable, insightful, detailed, and fun - our pup's behavior has improved so much since our first meeting!
It has been a while since I have had a puppy and Harley is like no other I have ever had. He was a handful. After my first session with Kevin I knew this would be a challenge for both Harley and me. I did my homework and every time Kevin came there was improvement. We have had 4-5 sessions and Harley is a wonderful dog to be around. The change in his behavior is amazing. My walking group has noticed the change too. Thank you Kevin for your support and guidance. Bark Busters is GREAT!
Not a big Yelp reviewer but given how poorly trained some friends dogs are and their owners frustration with the training programs they've used and the progress they haven't seen, felt obligated to share our good experience. Kevin is friendly and firm with both dog and owner. During training he gives guidance but is focused on the owner doing the training not himself. He is super responsive via text to questions about training and happy to cover a wide range of hypotheticals that we have thrown at him! Pluses: Instant behavioral improvement with clear program to follow when trainer not with us. Clear steps to follow if training lags (ex. "he's not coming to us on command any more" Negatives: Training is really for the owners. Consistency is key. If training with a partner I'd highly recommend you're both there and on board as different approaches lead to confusion for the dog. Long wait for initial consultation, due to HIGH DEMAND (so not really a negative) Given the simplicity of the program, it's really easy to try to train everyone else's dog and be an obnoxious back seat trainer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Long story short, if you are committed to sticking to a program and not afraid to be stern with your dog, this program works.
I cannot say enough good things about this training! Our dog Zoey is a rescue and has struggled with behavioral problems and anxiety for almost 8 years. I have tried (and wasted so much money on) trainers and training methods that just have't worked. She is a very sweet and intelligent dog that has been through a lot and we just didn't know how to help her! When her issues started to escalate (aggression towards people) I did some research and reached out to Kevin. Right from the start he was great at communicating and made the process so easy and pleasant. He even reached out to let us know that an earlier appointment date had opened up -this was a godsend because we were pretty desperate for help at this point. He taught us so much about Zoey, her potential, and how to communicate with her more clearly and effectively. I would argue we needed the training more than she did. His approach focuses on clear, consistent communication and earning respect through establishing rules and boundaries. It takes commitment and consistency from us, but I was completely amazed how well she responded to this training. It's not like the reward based "performing tricks" methods we've been taught before (which doesn't ultimately work). Working with Kevin has completely transformed the way we interact with Zoey and in short, she is simply a different dog. She seems happier, less anxious, and eager to adhere to the training. I look forward to follow up sessions as needed! Thank you Kevin!
Before Bark Busters, our dog Lucky was difficult to manage when it came to his aggression, separation anxiety and chewing the entire house. We tried all sorts of treats and strategies on YouTube but nothing was working. We were getting hopeless in training our dog. After our first session with Kevin, Lucky's behavior changed for the better and he's a different dog now. I was shocked after the first exercise that Kevin introduced where we saw Lucky's receptiveness and progress! Kevin takes the time to break down the science behind Lucky's behavior and really understanding the best ways in communicating with him in regards to our body language, tone of voice, and setting up a consistent schedule for Lucky i highly recommend Kevin and the rest of Bark Busters to anyone looking for help in training their dog!
Kevin is amazing. I have a German Shepherd and a Shepherd Mix. Both dogs are strong willed and bark too much. After my first training session with Kevin both dogs were calmer and better behaved. I continued to work with my dogs daily on the activities Kevin assigned. At our next appointment Kevin worked with my pups and me on leash training. By the time he left, neither dog was pulling on their leash any longer. I like the intervals between appointments. It allows time for practice to correct behaviors so at the next appointment we can focus on something else. I am very happy with my experience and Kevin is awesome!!
We have two rescues with two completely different personalities. We needed help managing their behaviors. Kevin has been working with us for the past few months, but after his first visit we noticed significant improvements with our dog Peanut. Love working with Kevin. Thank you for being so patient with our pets.
Overall happy with my experience with Kevin, and bark busters. I personally like the flexibility, as well as me getting the full hands on experience of training. I love to learn. We adopted our dog Grace almost a year ago, who is around 4yrs. A friend of mine recommended Kevin's service since she saw great progress with her dog that was around the same age and adopted as well. Grace was already a very chill dog, but as she opened up a little more she began to lunge toward people, bikes, other dogs, and cats. Making walking a little tough for my husband and I. After a few sessions, and us putting the work in with Grace, she starting adapting fairly quickly to the command. There are still some moments she might attempt to lung, but definitely a 180 degree difference from where she started. I am looking forward to more on time training/sessions.

It has been a while since I have had a puppy and Harley is like no other I have ever had. He was a handful. After my first session with Kevin I knew this would be a challenge for both Harley and me.
