We adopted Gracie, a 2-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound, from the NHSPCA in November 2025. We had previously adopted 4 other hounds from the SPCA, all with issues of being shy and unsocialized. Gracie, however, is a typical hound with endless energy. It was definitely challenging to take her for a simple walk. She was jumping on us, on the kitchen counters, stealing food off the stovetop. She was a lovebug, but she had no self-control. I was sure she was going jump off the sofa and propel herself onto the kitchen island. You could see her contemplating that move. After 6 weeks of struggling to gain some control, we turned to Mariah for help. We were stunned during our first home visit. We loved that Mariah came to our home for a one-on-one consultation. She observed Gracie's behavior in our own environment and she watched our reactions. We were doing everything wrong! It was amazing that, within an hour, Mariah had Gracie sitting and waiting for treats or her dinner. She taught us how to speak to Gracie in a language she could understand and how to control our body language to let Gracie know that we were in charge. She showed us how to keep her off the counters and how to keep her out of the kitchen while we were cooking. She gave us exercises to practice. Gracie literally improved overnight. Within a week she had mastered everything. It was truly amazing. No special equipment or treats. Just body language and speaking dog language. Once we master everything within the home, we needed to work on leash walking. Gracie was out of control when we encountered another dog walking on a leash, although she was fine at doggie daycare or around dogs off leash. She couldn't see or hear anything if she encountered another dog and she jumped, pulled, and howled until the other dog was out of sight. She was not aggressive, just extremely reactive. Mariah came back and observed this behavior. Unfortunately, it was difficult to encounter dogs due to the weather, so Mariah brought a life-sized stuffed dog to practice with for Gracie. Mariah then met us at a dog park, which was very helpful in showing Mariah her true behavior. Mariah gave us more tools and exercises to practice, which improved the behavior, but it still wasn't great. And over time, we got lazy with her inside manners. We asked Mariah to come back again. She came within a few days and spent about an hour helping us. Mariah helped us gain control inside the home again and gave us more suggestions on how to make Gracie less reactive to other dogs on leashes. In one day, we were able to get back on track. It was incredible! No yelling at or bribing Gracie. And, best of all, within two weeks of practicing walking Gracie with the new instructions, she is now able to walk the neighborhood without reacting AT ALL to other dogs. In fact, we were able to take a walk WITH another dog! It's almost unbelievable. Even my neighbors were astonished. I can't believe the difference in Gracie's behavior. She is so well-behaved but still silly, energetic and loveable! And we didn't have to travel for scheduled classes or use any special equipment. We were so impressed with Mariah! She does an amazing job teaching us how to train our dog. And we love knowing that we can call Mariah in the future if any issues arise or if we need retraining or guidance. We love having that security all for one cost. We don't have to worry about expensive lessons or traveling for group sessions in the future. We highly recommend Mariah at Bark Busters. We are so pleased with all the progress Gracie has shown is such a short period of time. Thank you, Mariah!
Mariah was so great with Willow and I! Willow caught on quickly with what she taught me to teach Willow. The best thing about Bark Busters l, atleast for me and my dog, is that I can contact the trainer months later and they will come back and work with Willow. My dog is super smart and understands things quickly but she also developed new bad behavior and with Bark Busters I will have this trainer for the duration of Willows life. Bark Busters was worth every dollar I spent and I tell everyone that! Can't wait for Mariah to come back to help Willow and I on our new behavioral issues!
We are very happy with Mariah’s approach to training our dog some of the most basic obedience. It is more geared toward training us the owner on how to train our dog which is a far better way in my opinion than leaving her in a place to be trained away from her home. Mariah is very knowledgable, friendly and will create a training regime tailored perfectly to the dog and family.
I’m very happy and impressed at how much Mariah has helped me with my dog, Malcolm. Also she’s helped me learn how to communicate with him so he knows what I expect from him. She’s training both of us.
Kayla is just wonderful. We have 3 dogs, one being a very special challenge. We are so impressed with his progress! Kayla has given us the tools to manage our pack and we look forward to her continued support. Highly recommend!

Kayla is awesome! I recently adopted an Iggy (Piper) who is 3-1/2 months young. She’s extremely energetic, not potty trained and bites everything and everyone due to teething but couldn’t be any cuter. I met with Kayla for several hours. She provided great information, suggestions, is patient and extremely diligent in checking in with me to see how things are going. I’m a work in progress (hard giving tough love by not running to get her every time she whines, but I’m getting better:). Additionally, Piper is getting better with going potty outdoors and when she tries biting, by redirecting her, she refocuses and stops biting.). I highly recommend Kayla for your training needs.
Yesterday we had our first session with Kayla and couldn't be happier. She really took the time to get to know our dogs (and us), to understand our challenges and goals, and to put together a comprehensive, customized plan to help us reach them. In just a few hours we saw a huge shift in our dogs' behavior thanks to her and Bark Busters' innovative training methods. I would highly recommend Kayla!
Kayla is a remarkable trainer! We have had our labradoodle in various training programs mostly for help with his walking skills and some dominance issues that he has. The skills she has taught us are by far the most effective. She works in real time at our house where our dog is most comfortable (and likely to act like his normal self compared to a facility we would bring him to). She will answer any and all questions! She is patient with not only our dog but with us as well. When we have reached out for follow up she is always receptive and flexible and makes herself available to come visit us again. Our dog respects her when she is with him but is also comfortable with her and shows love to herI can’t speak highly enough about her and would gladly refer her to anyone!
4 years ago we signed our dog Jack, a Rottweiler/Hound mix for at home training provided by BarkBusters. Our trainer or should I say Jacks trainer Kayla provided us weeks of training homework which we used to train Jack! 4 years later Kayla is still in contact with us for updates and answers to questions on Jacks behavior trends! Kayla is a dedicated, patient, courteous and knowledgeable trainer!! Anyone looking for a trainer then look no further than Kayla. She has been and will always be part of our family and Jacks.

Mariah was so great with Willow and I! Willow caught on quickly with what she taught me to teach Willow. The best thing about Bark Busters l, atleast for me and my dog, is that I can contact the trainer months later and they will come back and work with Willow. My dog is super smart and understands things quickly but she also developed new bad behavior and with Bark Busters I will have this trainer for the duration of Willows life. Yesterday we had our first session with Kayla and couldn't be happier.
